CNC Grinding Operator

Job Description

A CNC Grinding Operator operates precision grinding machines to finish metal components to fine tolerances and surface finishes that other machining processes can’t achieve.

Day-to-day work includes selecting and dressing grinding wheels, setting up components in jigs or chucks, running CNC grinding cycles, and measuring finished parts with micrometers and surface gauges to confirm they meet specification. You monitor wheel wear and coolant flow throughout the process, and make fine adjustments to hold tight tolerances across a production run.

Precision, patience, and a methodical approach are essential in this role, tolerances are often measured in microns. Experience with cylindrical or surface grinding and a relevant machining background are valued.
