Job Description
A CNC Turning Operator sets up and runs CNC lathes to turn round metal components, shafts, bushings, fittings, and other cylindrical parts, to precise dimensions and finish.
You load bar stock or individual blanks, select and fit turning and boring tools, set or adjust the CNC program for each job, and run production while checking dimensions throughout the cycle using micrometers and bore gauges. You identify and correct tool wear or dimensional drift before it affects part quality, and keep machines clean and well maintained between jobs.
Strong spatial awareness and an eye for precision are essential, along with the ability to read technical drawings and interpret tolerances. Experience with CNC lathes and common control systems (Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak) is a strong advantage.
